|Paint the town pink You’ve heard of the Big Apple and the Windy City. And of course if someone refers to the City of Lights, you know they mean Paris. But what about the Pink City? That name might be a little less familiar to you. No, it’s not a made up metropolis some fairy tale princess calls home. Believe it or not, it’s a real placethe beautiful Indian city called Jaipur. In the 18th century, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II wanted a city built. But not just any city. He demanded a sweeping masterpiece of urban design to represent his status as the man in charge. And he wanted it to be pink, the color that (to him) best represented imperial power. So were his commands met? Most definitely. Jaipur is an incredible city, with a surprisingly modern pattern of streets and avenues. But the buildings are its most amazing feature. Singh ordered all of them to be color-washed in one consistent shade. And to this day, that pretty pink presentation remains. Inspired by that famous facade, we created the beautiful Mohalla Necklace. Two hand-strung strands of polished, dyed quartz droplets stroll the 18″ length of the piece, shining with a bright pink you might find in the lingering light of a sunset. Gold toned, beaded spacers add shimmer, while the 2″ extender and toggle clasp that closes the necklace reflect with that same golden brilliance. Put on this necklace and you’re guaranteed to be tickled pink!
